1 Whole Year

Cheezy!

George and I have been married one whole year!!! The year was typical, ya know some ups, some downs - but we are so happy and in love. George is the greatest in almost every way and I love him very much!

For our anniversary we drove up to Flagstaff and got a hotel and then drove up to the Grand Canyon. September 25th (our anniversary) also happens to be Public Lands Day and so we got in for free! We just may have to find other fun national parks to go to on our anniversary because its free! =)

Anyways, the morning we left I made George take '1 year' pictures with me. He was thrilled, not really but he's a good sport! Our drive north was uneventful but fun, we like road trips and mostly just being together. The day we were at the canyon was beautiful, we can't wait to go back and do some hiking!

Man, I always forget to put my pictures on before I write, sorry whatever you get it anyway.

CHEEEEESY

So this is super dorky and cheesy but it was fun and will probably be entertaining to you!

I had to write a little poem for one of my classes and this is what I wrote!

There once was a girl with the name of a bird,
Who happened to know George Alvin Bock III.
He asked her out on a Friday night date.
Her reply was YES! But please, not too late.

The boy was tall, handsome and ever so sweet,
The girl so shy, she hardly made a tweet.
As time passed the two fell madly in love.
Pure in love like white feathers of a dove.

This girl was the happiest she'd ever been,
This boy made her feel goose bumps over her skin.
Thank goodness for George Alvin Bock III.
That he loves a girl with the name of a byrd.

Last Weekend

Last week was ridiculously busy!
I'll just give you the big details. We got on a flight at 7 am Friday morning to Seattle for Morgan and Jenny's Wedding!!! Their venue was absolutely gorgeous. It was fun to be with the whole family and get all dressed up! They were sealed Saturday morning at 8am in the Seattle LDS Temple. Afterwords they had a big ring ceremony with walking down the aisle and everything. Saturday night George and I got together with Gina & Kyle, Elisha & Jon, and Sam!!! We had so much fun! I really miss my Seattle friends!

Me and my Momma!

The start of our own little photo shoot while we were waiting for things to start!

Being silly

The gorgeous view

This picture was at the rehearsal the afternoon before the wedding. It was cloudy, but when it came time for the ring ceremony it cleared up and looked amazing!

This is us at the airport waiting to board Friday morning. We had gotten about 4 hours of sleep that night and the night before, we were exhausted and looked funny because we couldn't open our eyes very big =)
It was great to see my family and be in some cooler weather for a bit. Yep, high of 97 today and it will be warmer over the weekend!!!
Chances are, if you live in Washington, I'm missing you!!!!

The End of August

This is a pretty long blog, just an FYI for ya.
I started the teaching program at ASU a week and a half ago and so far I love it! I have class all day Tuesdays and Thursday, 3 at ASU and 3 at Gilbert Elementary. Then in two weeks I'll start interning with another teacher at Gilbert and I am so excited! I am already feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of the reading and other homework, but I know its gonna be a great semester.

This past week in particular has been well, ridiculous. Maybe once I write it out it won't sound like it was that bad, but it sure felt like it at the time!

MONDAY:

Chill day, I don't have school so I decided to drive out to Phoenix to have lunch with George. Just before my exit on the freeway I see a truck a few cars in front of me start fish tailing and just as I see it and began to question what was going on...the entire tread of said trucks tire smashed into my windshield!!! I just keep hearing the noise of the glass breaking over and over again! So I was like, "OH MY GOSH!!!!" I see the truck pull over and I pull over to the same side and get out to make sure the other driver was okay. As I get closer, the driver who was probably 80 lbs overweight and wearing "daisy dukes" with a too short tank top that revealed her ever so attractive tramp stamp on her lower back was cussin' up a storm kickin her truck and throwing her key on the ground.

Let's remember we are on the side of the freeway.

Me, in my child like voice, "hey, are you okay"

White trash lady, " S**T, the tread on my tire ripped off!!!!"

Me, "Yeah, it hit my windshield..."

I begin to walk around to see the damage to her tire

W T L, "Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah it was a used tire, I shoulda known, F***"

The tire was COMPLETELY bald

Me, " Do you have a phone to call someone or a toe truck?"

WTL, " I just gotta get off to 32nd street"

Me, "well..."

WTL, "I just gotta get ta 32nd street"

WTL gets back in the truck and drives away as I stand there a bit confused while I made sure to jot down her license plate.

I get back in my car and my instinct since George is at work, is to call my dad. I tried twice and it just wouldn't connect so I decided maybe it meant I should just get to George and go from there.

I get to his work in about 3 minutes. I wait for him to come out, adrenaline still pumping through my veins. As soon as he came out and said Hi, I started freaking out. I was like almost hyper-ventilating trying to tell him what happened. I don't think he understood anything that came out of my mouth so I just pointed to the car. George is the best. He was so calm. I was just like, "oh crap what are we gonna do, I didn't even get the lady's info, I only got her license plate, I don't have time to get this fixed, I have to go to work and I have school". George just calmed me down and told me not to worry and that we would just go get lunch and figure it out.
The rest of the story:
Our insurance said that in cases like that the other person usually isn't held liable - its more like a road hazard. So it turned out not being the worst thing that I didn't get her info, but the way she left me standing there makes me think she didn't have any... I took George's car to work and he called a place and got a new windshield put in and they clean up the glass on the dashboard.
TUESDAY: School until 7:30
We get home from school and work and walk into our closet to see glass shattered on the floor, and I'm like, "you gotta be kidding me!" Seriously, I think I was bad luck this week. It was the light fixture cover. We start to pick up the glass and realize the carpet is sopping wet.
Long story short: The people that own the condo above ours were getting their water heater replaced and the guy they hired did a shoddy job and basically spilled a ton of the water out of the tank onto the floor and it came through to our condo. We think the water filled up the light fixture on the ceiling and it got too heavy and dropped. So we had to pick up a bunch of broken glass and wet shoes and clothes that were on the floor of the closet. Luckily we are good friends with the people that own the upstairs condo and she offered to have her carpet cleaner come and clean up our closet. That was super nice, even though we had to pull everything out of the closet into our room until it all dried.
WEDNESDAY: Primary presidency meeting, lots of homework, and then work.
THURSDAY: School until 7 and then straight to practice with a couple of ladies to sing in sacrament meeting on Sunday. The ladies were a bit chatty, so I didn't get home until 10. I was beat.
FRIDAY: I watched grandma Bock, did laundry, homework, and work. I also started to prepare my sharing time for primary on Sunday.
SATURDAY: Singing practice at 9, then I worked until 6. Dropped off a baby shower present and then we went out with Larsens and had a blast. After such a crazy week, I was ready for a night of fun.
Because I was so nervous to do sharing time on Sunday, when we got home, I practiced it for George and we had some good laughs.
SUNDAY: Singing practice at 8 since our ward starts at 8:30. I invited George's brother Sam to come to our ward and he came and it made my day! Sacrament meeting was GREAT, the Spirit was so strong and our song was lovely. We sang a beautiful arrangement of The Lord is My Shepherd. Then too primary. I was really nervous to do sharing time - I wasn't too concerned about what the kids thought, more that I had to do it with other adults watching and listening - scary! lol I'm a dork, I know!
It went totally fine and the kids were really cute with it.
Now we are home. I am SO happy that this week is over. A lot of it was really good, but man was it eventful and stressful!!!
Yay for Sundays!!!

Meet Kalei

Yep, she is THAT cool! Kalei is the 4 year old that I have been nannying. We have a lot of fun, but she can throw a pretty good tantrum.
Some of her faves are: getting shaved ice, swimming, watching scooby-doo, painting nails, and wearing leotards and tights (she thinks it is never too hot for tights, even though we live in the desert).
She is so funny this picture totally captures her personality.
More funny Kalei stories to come!

Blah Duty

Jury duty was SO boring!!! For some reason I thought I would get there and they would already tell me that they didn't need me, so I didn't bring anything to do while I was there. Yeah, two and a half hours of people watching, playing brick breaker on my phone and facebooking until they called my name to see if I would be picked to be on a jury. We were then questioned as a group if any of us had ourselves, known anyone, or been involved in any crime, alcohol problems - DUI etc. If anyone answered yes, they had to stand up and tell their story! And man! Some people just seemed so dumb, but they were the ones that got to leave first and not be on the jury. The case was for an aggravated DUI. One man stands up and is like, "My son was in a car accident". Pause. Judge, "I don't see how that is relevant. pause. no response. okay, when did it happen?" Man, "40 years ago" Judge,"okay...and will this effect you in being an impartial juror?" Man, "Yes".
Oh my gosh I thought you gotta be kidding me! So stuff like that went on for an hour and a half until we stopped for a 1 and 1/2 hour lunch!!!! That was super unnecessary and a definite waste of time I thought, I basically ate a sandwich and wandered around downtown Phoenix. After lunch there was more questioning and I made friends with this girl I was sitting next to. When the questioning was done we had to go outside and they would pick the jurors and then let us know. We go back in and they start calling out the juror numbers in numerical order to go sit in the juror box. My number was 32 and my friend was 31. 31 was the last number called! I felt bad for her but happy because I didn't have to stay or come back at all! Woohooo! I now won't have to perform jury duty for like 2 years!! P.S. I got a check for like 9 dollars to pay for the gas I used to get there! Ha
Anyway, it was dumb and sorry if this bore you to death!!!

My Car

So, a few weeks ago the AC in my car completey stopped working and when I would try and use it the engine would start revving and kinda leaping. Anyway, really bad timing on my cars part. It was oh, probably about 108 degrees and I'm not even kidding. I drove all the way home from Phoenix without AC, this girl was not a happy camper. The next day I drove it out to the mechanic we go to in hopes that it wouldn't be anything too major. Later that afternoon he called me and said that it would cost about $3500. Still not kidding. I almost started crying-such a whimp I know! I told him he had to think I was crazy to pay that much! (Not really, but I wish I had) I told him I would just pick it up in the morning. Upon hearing that crazy estimate my father-in-law started calling around to places that fix lexus' (lexi?) and found a place that does lexus work half price....in Apache Junction - not the classiest of places. So the next afternoon I went with my mother-in-law and picked up my car at the first mechanic and drove again almost a half hour without AC to AJ. Side note-at one point we got stopped at a train, me just sitting in my 120 degree car with no wind or anything, just waiting. It was awesome - not. We got there, the guy checked it out and let us know that he could fix it at a much better price. We waited a few days to get a part to come in and now it is fixed and blowing ice cold air!!! Another side note, while my car was getting fixed I got to drive my dad-in-laws big truck and it was so much fun!!! It made me feel little and I was above all the other cars! Well, since my car sat out in the sun for a week without being driven...a green crayon that was in my cup holder totally melted. I opened it and found the little paper still perfectly round, but no wax inside, it was all over everthing else!

Holiday Weekend

Happy INDEPENDENCE Day!

We had such a fun weekend together! We were going to go to the Mogollon Rim to camp but we didn't make 'reservations' 3 days in advance...so that plan was out. So Saturday we ran errands, visited the grandparents and went out to lunch. Then that night we saw fireworks from our street, which was fun! Sunday, I made green tomatillo salsa for a yummy snack to eat while we watched fireworks in Tempe. Monday morning we got up and drove to Strawberry to hike to Fossil Springs. Our legs are just now finally starting to feel normal! It was all downhill to the springs, which were beautiful and so fun to play in! George is already ready to go back even thought the hike back out almost killed us! It really wasn't that bad...or maybe it was. Either way we weren't in our best shape to hike uphill for two hours after hiking down, swimming, and climbing and jumping off the cliffs. George jumped from the waterfall, I wasn't quite brave enough! By the time we made it back to the top and to our car we were exhausted! We got home, cleaned up and fell FAST asleep! We had a lot of fun! Let us know if you wanna join in for the next trip!
Oh, and the pictures are super out of order...I don't understand how to put them on in the right way :(

Swimming around

From the top!

It's hard to tell but there was this whirlpool thing on the left. The water was too strong to get in it but we heard that when there is more water you and jump into it and swim out the bottom into the river. The water was so clear you could see in the river the swirling water from the whirlpool!

Stream

After we made it down and changed into our bathing suits and AQUA SOCKS!

This is what we saw when we first got the bottom. Icky water that was like 5in. deep. We were so hot and I was ready to freak out if we didn't get to actually swim.
Thank goodness we kept on a hikin'

About half way to the springs and still doin good!

The beginning!

Highly Recommended

Salad. I don't like lettuce so for me its gotta be a really really yummy salad or its got to have spinach. I was looking for good salad recipes the other day and found a WINNER! So here it is:
Courtesy of Rachael Ray
Buffalo Chicken Salad
2 hearts of romaine lettuce (I used half lettuce half spinach)
1 cup of shredded carrots
2 ribs of celery with greens chopped
1/2 cup ranch dressing
1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles (I think the low fat ones don't taste very good, so go for the gold!)
1 package chicken tenders cut into bite size (about 1 lb. or less)
1 TBS vegetable oil (enough to cover your pan to cook the chicken)
2 TBS butter
Salt & Pepper for more seasoning
1/4 cup hot sauce (I like more!)
Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat and add oil and butter and chicken.
Sear chicken for 2-3 minutes (I do this until all the pieces are white)
Then add the hot sauce, reduce heat and cook about 7 more minutes.
For the hot sauce I use a sorta home made sauce that my grandpa uses to make hot wings.
It makes about a full cup, and I use maybe 1/2 of it on the chicken.
Hot Sauce:
Melt 1 cube of butter in a cup
Add 1 TBS of vinegar
Add 1 TBS Lawry's seasoning salt
Add 1/2 TBS Tabasco
And then taste it and add more of what you want to your taste
So after the chicken is done cooking I put it on a paper towel over a plate so it can soak up some of the oil. Then combine all the vegetables, dressing and chicken and ENJOY!
I've made this like 3 times in the past couple of weeks. George can't get enough of it!
I'm no calorie counter or anything but I think this salad isn't too bad.

Here are a few reasons why I am grateful for and love George:

1. He loves me

3. He might be psychic. He always knows what's going on inside my head

4. He likes to take walks with me

5. He can always make me laugh

6. He remembers the funny things

7. He'll get me medicine in the middle of the night when I'm sick

8. He lets me talk his ear off when he gets home from work

9. He'll come help control my primary class ;)

10. He knows how to calm me down when I get stressed out or really anxious.

Memorial Day

We're driving up to the Grand Canyon for Memorial Day weekend and I'm so excited! I haven't been to it when I was old enough to remember, so it should be fun! Pictures to come next week! Here's a pic I found on google: I really want to walk out on this sky bridge!!

Who Knew?

I slipped in the Shower today! How embarrassing right? I never thought I would/could fall in the shower. I opened the door put one foot in and the next thing I knew I was on my back realizing how badly the bottom of the shower door needed cleaning - yuck - I touched it! Luckily, I'll probably just get a nice bruise and thank goodness I didn't break something!!! I don't even know what happened! That one slip took me down fast, there was no chance for recovery! So for those that haven't experienced this little ordeal, beware it can actually happen!!

SPOKANE!

This past weekend I got to go up to Spokane and visit my parents and brothers. I hadn't seen them since Christmas. It was rainy but so much fun. On Friday, Clacie, my BFF ;) and I went and got pedicures and pizza. Later that night me, my mom, and my cousin Michelle went downtown for Time Out For Women and listened to some speakers and great music. One of the speakers was President Hinkley's daughter and the violinist was Elder Oaks daughter - kinda neat. Then Saturday we went back to TOFW with Jenny and Clacie and listened to some amazing talks and music about hope, success, and joy. It was a nice little vaca and a great booster. We then met up with the boys and Chloe for Aaron's birthday dinner at Tomato Street - a family fave. It's hard to be away from the boys and my parents but I'm SO happy to be with George. Everyday that I'm with George I realize more and more how perfect we are for each other. He's the best!
This is my first time posting pics so they're sorta out of order!

Poor Phone but Hooray for Strawberries

So...long story sort of short...I left my phone at the institute on Friday and by the time I could get back there it was closed. It was later confirmed that it is still there and not stolen so that is happy news but let me tell you - without my phone for a whole weekend I've been going crazy!!!!! I'm very attached to it and use it for EVERYTHING!!!! It will be nice to be reunited tomorrow morning!
In other news...our grocery store has strawberries for 88 cents a container so we bought some and I'm going to make a strawberry cake today!!! It is so sugary, sweet and delicious.

The Basic recipe: White cake mix - follow the normal instructions
Add about a cup of mashed strawberries
3 oz. of strawberry jello mix
Bake like normal
For the frosting I just do your basic powdered sugar and butter combo and then add about 3/4 cup of mashed strawberries! The frosting is to DIE for!!! Every time I make it, everyone ends up just eating it straight out of the bowl, so make extra!! YUM!
I highly recommend this cake - always a crowd pleaser!
Come over tonight if you want a taste!!!

Robyn Update

I have 3 weeks left in the semester and I think I'm gonna make it. I've decided semesters aren't my favorite, but I only have to survive 4 more.... Starting fall semester I will begin the teaching program for special education at ASU and I am so excited. It's funny to think that some day I'm actually going to be a professional at something! And if things don't change too drastically I'll graduate spring of 2012.
Right now I also nanny a 4 year old girl, who is so much fun. We play outside, watch movies, paint nails, go to the park and library and eat snow cones. She loves chocolate and ALWAYS reminds me that I don't =). She dresses herself everyday and comes up with some pretty crazy outfits. I've been trying really hard to teach her how to make her outfit match lol. Nannying is the perfect job while I'm in school. I watch her in the evenings and then all day Saturday and get home in time to have a snack and movie with George.
Well, that's all for now!

Welcome

Hello friends and family!!

Hope you enjoy reading about all the silly things that happen in our happily forever after!!!
