CHEEEEESY

So this is super dorky and cheesy but it was fun and will probably be entertaining to you!

I had to write a little poem for one of my classes and this is what I wrote!

There once was a girl with the name of a bird,
Who happened to know George Alvin Bock III.
He asked her out on a Friday night date.
Her reply was YES! But please, not too late.

The boy was tall, handsome and ever so sweet,
The girl so shy, she hardly made a tweet.
As time passed the two fell madly in love.
Pure in love like white feathers of a dove.

This girl was the happiest she'd ever been,
This boy made her feel goose bumps over her skin.
Thank goodness for George Alvin Bock III.
That he loves a girl with the name of a byrd.

Last Weekend

Last week was ridiculously busy!
I'll just give you the big details. We got on a flight at 7 am Friday morning to Seattle for Morgan and Jenny's Wedding!!! Their venue was absolutely gorgeous. It was fun to be with the whole family and get all dressed up! They were sealed Saturday morning at 8am in the Seattle LDS Temple. Afterwords they had a big ring ceremony with walking down the aisle and everything. Saturday night George and I got together with Gina & Kyle, Elisha & Jon, and Sam!!! We had so much fun! I really miss my Seattle friends!

Me and my Momma!

The start of our own little photo shoot while we were waiting for things to start!

Being silly

The gorgeous view

This picture was at the rehearsal the afternoon before the wedding. It was cloudy, but when it came time for the ring ceremony it cleared up and looked amazing!

This is us at the airport waiting to board Friday morning. We had gotten about 4 hours of sleep that night and the night before, we were exhausted and looked funny because we couldn't open our eyes very big =)
It was great to see my family and be in some cooler weather for a bit. Yep, high of 97 today and it will be warmer over the weekend!!!
Chances are, if you live in Washington, I'm missing you!!!!

The End of August

This is a pretty long blog, just an FYI for ya.
I started the teaching program at ASU a week and a half ago and so far I love it! I have class all day Tuesdays and Thursday, 3 at ASU and 3 at Gilbert Elementary. Then in two weeks I'll start interning with another teacher at Gilbert and I am so excited! I am already feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of the reading and other homework, but I know its gonna be a great semester.

This past week in particular has been well, ridiculous. Maybe once I write it out it won't sound like it was that bad, but it sure felt like it at the time!

MONDAY:

Chill day, I don't have school so I decided to drive out to Phoenix to have lunch with George. Just before my exit on the freeway I see a truck a few cars in front of me start fish tailing and just as I see it and began to question what was going on...the entire tread of said trucks tire smashed into my windshield!!! I just keep hearing the noise of the glass breaking over and over again! So I was like, "OH MY GOSH!!!!" I see the truck pull over and I pull over to the same side and get out to make sure the other driver was okay. As I get closer, the driver who was probably 80 lbs overweight and wearing "daisy dukes" with a too short tank top that revealed her ever so attractive tramp stamp on her lower back was cussin' up a storm kickin her truck and throwing her key on the ground.

Let's remember we are on the side of the freeway.

Me, in my child like voice, "hey, are you okay"

White trash lady, " S**T, the tread on my tire ripped off!!!!"

Me, "Yeah, it hit my windshield..."

I begin to walk around to see the damage to her tire

W T L, "Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah it was a used tire, I shoulda known, F***"

The tire was COMPLETELY bald

Me, " Do you have a phone to call someone or a toe truck?"

WTL, " I just gotta get off to 32nd street"

Me, "well..."

WTL, "I just gotta get ta 32nd street"

WTL gets back in the truck and drives away as I stand there a bit confused while I made sure to jot down her license plate.

I get back in my car and my instinct since George is at work, is to call my dad. I tried twice and it just wouldn't connect so I decided maybe it meant I should just get to George and go from there.

I get to his work in about 3 minutes. I wait for him to come out, adrenaline still pumping through my veins. As soon as he came out and said Hi, I started freaking out. I was like almost hyper-ventilating trying to tell him what happened. I don't think he understood anything that came out of my mouth so I just pointed to the car. George is the best. He was so calm. I was just like, "oh crap what are we gonna do, I didn't even get the lady's info, I only got her license plate, I don't have time to get this fixed, I have to go to work and I have school". George just calmed me down and told me not to worry and that we would just go get lunch and figure it out.
The rest of the story:
Our insurance said that in cases like that the other person usually isn't held liable - its more like a road hazard. So it turned out not being the worst thing that I didn't get her info, but the way she left me standing there makes me think she didn't have any... I took George's car to work and he called a place and got a new windshield put in and they clean up the glass on the dashboard.
TUESDAY: School until 7:30
We get home from school and work and walk into our closet to see glass shattered on the floor, and I'm like, "you gotta be kidding me!" Seriously, I think I was bad luck this week. It was the light fixture cover. We start to pick up the glass and realize the carpet is sopping wet.
Long story short: The people that own the condo above ours were getting their water heater replaced and the guy they hired did a shoddy job and basically spilled a ton of the water out of the tank onto the floor and it came through to our condo. We think the water filled up the light fixture on the ceiling and it got too heavy and dropped. So we had to pick up a bunch of broken glass and wet shoes and clothes that were on the floor of the closet. Luckily we are good friends with the people that own the upstairs condo and she offered to have her carpet cleaner come and clean up our closet. That was super nice, even though we had to pull everything out of the closet into our room until it all dried.
WEDNESDAY: Primary presidency meeting, lots of homework, and then work.
THURSDAY: School until 7 and then straight to practice with a couple of ladies to sing in sacrament meeting on Sunday. The ladies were a bit chatty, so I didn't get home until 10. I was beat.
FRIDAY: I watched grandma Bock, did laundry, homework, and work. I also started to prepare my sharing time for primary on Sunday.
SATURDAY: Singing practice at 9, then I worked until 6. Dropped off a baby shower present and then we went out with Larsens and had a blast. After such a crazy week, I was ready for a night of fun.
Because I was so nervous to do sharing time on Sunday, when we got home, I practiced it for George and we had some good laughs.
SUNDAY: Singing practice at 8 since our ward starts at 8:30. I invited George's brother Sam to come to our ward and he came and it made my day! Sacrament meeting was GREAT, the Spirit was so strong and our song was lovely. We sang a beautiful arrangement of The Lord is My Shepherd. Then too primary. I was really nervous to do sharing time - I wasn't too concerned about what the kids thought, more that I had to do it with other adults watching and listening - scary! lol I'm a dork, I know!
It went totally fine and the kids were really cute with it.
Now we are home. I am SO happy that this week is over. A lot of it was really good, but man was it eventful and stressful!!!
Yay for Sundays!!!

Meet Kalei

Yep, she is THAT cool! Kalei is the 4 year old that I have been nannying. We have a lot of fun, but she can throw a pretty good tantrum.
Some of her faves are: getting shaved ice, swimming, watching scooby-doo, painting nails, and wearing leotards and tights (she thinks it is never too hot for tights, even though we live in the desert).
She is so funny this picture totally captures her personality.
More funny Kalei stories to come!

Blah Duty

Jury duty was SO boring!!! For some reason I thought I would get there and they would already tell me that they didn't need me, so I didn't bring anything to do while I was there. Yeah, two and a half hours of people watching, playing brick breaker on my phone and facebooking until they called my name to see if I would be picked to be on a jury. We were then questioned as a group if any of us had ourselves, known anyone, or been involved in any crime, alcohol problems - DUI etc. If anyone answered yes, they had to stand up and tell their story! And man! Some people just seemed so dumb, but they were the ones that got to leave first and not be on the jury. The case was for an aggravated DUI. One man stands up and is like, "My son was in a car accident". Pause. Judge, "I don't see how that is relevant. pause. no response. okay, when did it happen?" Man, "40 years ago" Judge,"okay...and will this effect you in being an impartial juror?" Man, "Yes".
Oh my gosh I thought you gotta be kidding me! So stuff like that went on for an hour and a half until we stopped for a 1 and 1/2 hour lunch!!!! That was super unnecessary and a definite waste of time I thought, I basically ate a sandwich and wandered around downtown Phoenix. After lunch there was more questioning and I made friends with this girl I was sitting next to. When the questioning was done we had to go outside and they would pick the jurors and then let us know. We go back in and they start calling out the juror numbers in numerical order to go sit in the juror box. My number was 32 and my friend was 31. 31 was the last number called! I felt bad for her but happy because I didn't have to stay or come back at all! Woohooo! I now won't have to perform jury duty for like 2 years!! P.S. I got a check for like 9 dollars to pay for the gas I used to get there! Ha
Anyway, it was dumb and sorry if this bore you to death!!!
